At the moment we have 10 horses, arabs, anglos, cobs and part-breds all with comfortable saddles and snaffle bits. They are fit from all the hill work, willing and forward going yet easy to stop, we find that our clients wish to enjoy themselves without too many challenges!
We are fortunate enough to have plenty of good sheltered grazing and we even make our own hay the old fashioned way. The geldings live in a herd and the mares in a small group. Every horse has a good stable for extreme weather conditions and breakfast each day before work.
We encourage our clients to come early and help groom and tack up so that they can build up a relationship with the horse although we quite understand the some people do not have the time. We run Saddle-up and go courses for those wishing to learn how to handle horses ‘on the ground’. The weight limit is in the region of 13st/182lb/82kg depending on ability.
Horse owners are welcome on their own horses for escorted hacks and holidays, Endurance training and Le Trec sessions and fattening training. We provide B & B for horses and riders both at Lower House Farm and at Shotgun Cottage, South Harting where Joyce and David live. The converted barn is just off the South Downs Way and ideally situated for people riding this National Trail, joining in with a short break riding holiday or taking their horse on a Bridle Rides Holiday.
